Description
The PRC Operation Centre (OC), based at national headquarters, monitors emergency situations and issues regular updates to chapters in affected areas. Daily, it shares information with chapters and receives reports on service deliveries. The OC uses a messaging system called “Power Text” to message chapters nationwide. Additionally, it sends out and receives early warning messages via SMS or email to selected chapter administrators and executives. The OC typically receives information through email; however on occasion it has received information through SMS. An example of this would be when volunteers working during Typhoon Sendong would send updates via SMS using a hotline number.
